DAY 128 - DAY ONE HUNDRED TWENTY ON THE CRYSTAL SERENITY

Before dinner last evening the four of us went to the Crystal Plaza for a drink and we also had some formal portraits taken since last evening was Black Tie Optional.

Afterwards, we had dinner at the Prego Italian Specialty Restaurant.  We didn't bring a camera so we have no photos of the meal so we will just describe what we had.

Our waiter for the evening was Marcos who we have had the last few times we have been to Prego since Costa when on vacation.   Macros took good care of us.

We each began with an appetizer.  Keith and Anne Marie had a small portion of the additional pasta entree as an appetizer.  It was a Penne Pasta with a red sauce and cheeses and was delicious as an appetizer as it would be for the entree.   Kara and Eric each had warm Lobster Poached in Sage Butter.

For the next course Kara had Mushroom Soup, Eric and Anne Marie had Caesar Salad and Keith had a standing order salad.

For our entrees Keith and Eric had the additional entree of Panned Fried Sea Bass, Anne Marie had Veal Scaloppine and Kara had Spaghetti with Meat Sauce.  Everyone seemed very pleased with their choices.

For dessert, Keith had a fruit plate, and Eric had a double scoop of Vanilla and Chocolate Gelato,  Kara had a single scoop of Vanilla Gelato and Anne Marie had a cup of decaffeinated cappuccino.

We all enjoyed the delicious meal, fantastic service and the ambience of the Prego dining venue.    By the time we finished although Prego was fairly full it was fairly quiet just enhancing the overall meal.

After dinner, we attended the Crystal Society Reception.  This reception honors everyone who has sailed on Crystal Cruises one time .  However, this time around everyone was invited to attend since this reception served as the welcome, Crystal Society, and farewell reception since this has been a relatively short cruise.  During the reception we spoke with the new Hotel Director, Hubert, who will be assuming his responsibilities starting today.  Hubert had worked with Crystal Cruises before and said he was very excited to be returning back to Crystal.

We were recognized at the reception as was one other woman traveling solo for the number of cruises we have taken by Crystal Society Hostess Jaque Brown.  After Jaque said some words about each of us and asked us to come to the front,  Eric escorted Anne Marie and Kara escorted Keith.  Anne Marie was presented with a bouquet of flowers and Keith was presented with a flower for his lapel. We took a photo after we returned to our room with Anne Marie holding the flower that Keith received.  The Captain congratulated us as did Cruise Director Gary Hunter.

After the party, Kara and Eric attended the Elton John Show Production Show and Keith and Anne Marie called it a night.

We did sleep well last evening.  We were still a little tired from forwarding the clocks back one hour.

Keith was back up fairly early and began another day as we normally do.  After he got back from the Fitness Center, we went on a nice walk for one hour.  During our walk we spoke briefly to new Hotel Director Hubert who assumed responsibility as Hotel Director starting today.  We told him he looked great in his Officer's Uniform.  Hubert had worked for Crystal Cruises for many years in senior positions including Executive Chef and also Hotel Director.  After we walked, we had breakfast in our room.

Anne Marie did more packing in the morning and Keith took care of a few items as we prepare to disembark the ship.

We arrived to Mykonos, Greece at around 7:00 AM.  Anne Marie stayed on the ship to do more packing.  Keith took the shuttle bus into town an  Eric and Kara took a tour with Crystal that we had booked for them which took them to a very nice beach.  The highs today were around 70 degrees fahrenheit.

The roads to and from the town are not very wide with one lane in each direction with no shoulders and sometimes walls on one or both sides of the road.  Often if another vehicle was coming towards us the bus had to stop.  Once in town, the roads were quite small within the shopping district, only allowing traffic to go one way at a time and often almost no room for pedestrians.  The shops mainly sold jewelry or souvenir items and there were several hotels and restaurants.

Mykonos is a relatively small island with a small population.  It has a lot of natural beauty, a rich history and is considered to be very cosmopolitan.

Very little room for even one vehicle, let alone pedestrians.

After Keith returned back to the ship he played singles Paddle Tennis for an hour with one of the Ambassador Hosts.  Keith asked him which is more physically challenging dancing or paddle tennis.  Given how tired they both were the answer was easy.

We ended up having lunch in our room so that Anne Marie could go back to packing.  We each had a salad entree with Tuna. This evening we will be back at the Crystal Dining Room.

In the afternoon, Anne Marie walked with Kara and Keith played paddle tennis with Eric.

Before dinner this evening we will be going to the Magic Show and then we will dine at the Crystal Dining Room for the last time until we return later in the year.

We will post all about this tomorrow.
