DAY 130 - DISEMBARKATION DAY

Before dinner last evening, we had Eric and Kara to our room.  We had some wine and a few snacks and enjoyed our time together.

Afterwards, we dined at Tastes which was the first time that Kara and Eric have been there for dinner this cruise.  As you know by now the cuisine at Tastes represents tastings from around the world which are served family style.

These are some of the items that we had.

Ahi Tuna and Salad.

Shrimp

Our wonderful waiter, Fabio who took care of us the entire night.  He was also assisted by a few others including Clark and Monica.

In total we had four courses; each of the first three courses came with a couple of tasting appetizers and one additional course that we added had one tasting appetizer.  We also shared a couple of desserts.

For most of the time we were there only a few people were there but as we were leaving additional people arrived.  We were there for close to two hours.

After dinner we put the final items in our luggage and put them out side in the hallway.  Some of our luggage we are sending home and some luggage we will be taking with us.  For the luggage we are shipping home, we do not have to claim it but rather the Concierge will take care of that for us and they will hand it over to Luggage Concierge.

During this voyage we sailed from Rome to Mykonos.  We traveled a distance of 1,219 nautical miles or the equivalent of 1,401 land miles.

These are some photos from this voyage.

This photo was taken when we were recognized at the Crystal Society Reception for the number of cruises we have taken to date.

We joined Eric and Kara for their welcome on board photo.

We slept very well last evening while the ship was docked at Istanbul.  It is hard to believe that after 4+ months on the Crystal Serenity that it is time to go home.  We have enjoyed this journey and have indeed made many memories which will last a life time.  We have so much to be happy for and we also have other cruises to look forward to into the future.  For us this has been the best World Cruise yet in terms of the overall on-board experience.  In terms of the itinerary our favorite of the World Cruises was back in 2010 as we spent around 24 days in the Middle East and visited several countries that it is uncertain when the next time cruise lines such as Crystal would visit.  Nevertheless, the on board experience for us keeps getting better with each passing year and we visited so many interesting ports this year.  We also were glad to return to the Mediterranean for the first time in four years.

Keith was up early but no Fitness Center today nor walk for the two of us.  Keith read and wrote and then had coffee at the Lido Cafe.  He wished Lido Deck Stewards Nat, and Leibert all the best as they are also leaving today to go on a well deserved Holiday.  Keith also gave our best to Lido Deck Steward Demi.  Demi will remain on Serenity for another three months.

Keith brought coffee back to the room for Anne Marie.  We enjoyed our last breakfast in the room thanks to Rao and we thanked Rao for all that he has done for us and also wished him a wonderful well deserved Holiday as he is also flying home today.

We met Head Concierge Sergio at around 8:10 AM.  Sergio had already verified that our Executive Van was waiting for us and had also grouped all of our luggage together for all four of us.  He took us down to the terminal where we proceeded through immigration and then he took us to our luggage, got a porter to load it on a cart and walked with us to the vehicle.  It was as simple as that.

We were taken on a 45 minute drive to the airport.  We had to wait for our ticket counter to open up but after it did we were checked in for our flights and we were able to go through a fast track line for passport control and then over to the club lounge to wait for our flight to London Heathrow.

Our flight was fine and we actually had a decent meal on the flight and we arrived on time to Heathrow.  We are staying at a hotel at the airport and will stay there for two days until we are taken to Southampton and board the Queen Mary 2 to cross over to New York.  Eric and Kara will fly home tomorrow.

We will be posting more in the coming days.

TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY……

"We have thoroughly enjoyed the last 120+ days on the Crystal Serenity and look forward to our next journey on Serenity.
