DAY 35 - DAY TWENTY-SEVEN ON THE CRYSTAL SERENITY

Unfortunately our entire post disappeared before we had a chance to post it.

We will do an abbreviated post today.

Last night there was a special on board event for the World Cruisers which included entertainment and dinner.  It was a wonderful event.

The show was written and choreographed just for the one event and after the two shows are performed it will never be performed again.

The Event was called Roaring '20s Speakeasy.  This is what the invitation said:

"Booze is in demand and all the smart, cool people know where it is….at the Speakeasy Club.  This hot club is hard to find if you don't know somebody…or don't know the password to get through the door. Once inside, the food and drink are day, and the jazz sublime.

However, local law enforcement are cracking down…so mum is definitely the word.

These are some photos from the performance.

As we entered the door, World Cruise Hostess Stacey Huston whispered the password to us.

Knowing that Cruise Director Rick Spath is an avid Boston Red Sox fan, Keith gave him New York Yankees as the password in lieu of the real password.  It still worked.

After the performance we each went to one of the two Specialty Restaurants where we had an assigned table and seat for dinner.  We were assigned to Silk Road which was transformed to a venue called the Manhattan 21 restaurant and the dining venue was decorated accordingly.

We enjoyed a wonderful dinner that was prepared especially for this event.

Anne Marie outside the venue.

Each table looked beautiful.

We began with Lobster Waldorf Salad.

This was followed with Roasted Butternut Squash Soup which was delicious.

The entree was a choice of Veal Tenderloin or White Sea Bass Fillet.  We both chose the Sea Bass and it was absolutely cooked to perfection.  It was a Wow!

Dessert was Bread & Butter Pudding Vanilla Cheesecake.

Some abbreviated highlights.

Set the clocks back last evening which was great.  It is starting to feel like Ground Hog Day between setting the clocks back and all of these sea days.

We both worked out in the morning; Keith on the elliptical machine and Anne Marie walking outside for one hour with friends Elaine and Mary.  Keith also had a spin class let by Fitness Director Michael and Anne Marie had Personal Training with Fitness Director Scott.

Later in the morning Anne Marie had knitting and Keith went to Team Trivia.

For lunch we each had salad entrees; Keith a Tuna Fish Salad and Anne Marie a Chef's Salad.

Another outstanding lecture given by CNN Senior UN Correspondent, Richard Roth who spoke about the inside the strange world of the United Nations.  He gave a behind the scenes view of what it is like to cover the United Nations.  Very informative and interesting with good humor too.

Afternoon included Paddle Tennis for Keith and also meeting up with good friend Bob.  For Anne Marie it was another one hour walk and Yoga.

This evening is Black Tie Optional on the ship which always makes for a festive evening and we will be dining with one other person at Silk Road.  We will post about that tomorrow.

TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY…….

  1. So your computer "ate" your daily posting! I was wondering where it was when there was nothing by 6 PM your time. I'm glad these things happen to you too as I always blame myself for being so computer illiterate when it happens to me. Glad to know the gremlins attack the computer guru too.

    Loving your blog!
