NOTE: We understand there were problems reading a few sections from yesterday's Blog as they were in white. It is too much to correct so we will need to leave it as is.
Shortly after we posted yesterday, a beautiful floral arrangement was delivered to our room from good friends and we thank them so very much for their thoughtfulness and kindness and for thinking of us.
Before dinner last evening we went by the Crystal Cove and listened to pianist John Mentis perform.
We didn't have anything to drink nor anything to eat but we did take a photo with Anne Marie and Lido Deck Steward, Joe.
We had a great time at dinner last evening. Cruise Director Rick Spath joined us for dinner. Our Head Waiter is now Augusto who boarded the Serenity in Yokohama after enjoying a well deserved holiday with his family. Augusto is from Italy but lives with his family in Norway as this is the home country for his wife. Augusto has been our Head Waiter for the past few years.
Keith kidded with Maitre d' Leo who stopped by, Augusto, the wait staff and friends John and Linda who sit next to us that we brought Rick in case Keith passed out again so that he could give a hand to Anne Marie. Thankfully, that did not happen.

Knowing that we were not dining at the Crystal Dining Room
the night before and that there are some entrees that were served that evening
Augusto had recommended to us that he could pre-order them for us for last evening
and we thought that was a wonderful idea.
This was our first time back in the Crystal Dining Room,
since Keith’s medical issue where that night we were only there for about
twenty minutes.
We began our meal with an appetizer. Anne Marie had Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and
Keith had Tuna Tar Tare, which Augusto made. We both enjoyed our appetizers.
This was a lot of Tuna Tar Tare so Keith had just a portion of it, but really enjoyed what he ate.

We each had a salad.
Anne Marie ordered one of the two salads on the menu, which
was the Red and Green Caesar Salad and Keith, had his standing order salad.
For our entrees, Keith had the Baked Halibut and a small
portion of Lobster, and Anne Marie had the Broiled Maine Lobster. Both of these items were on the Gala Welcome
Dinner Menu. Like Keith, Rick also had the Halibut and the Lobster. This is a photo of the two seafood items. Keith has had Halibut many times of the years. Like any food, sometimes the taste can vary depending on many different factors. Keith remarked that this might have been the best Halibut he has eaten. It was a nice thick piece of fish and it was cooked just right as it was very moist and tasty. The Lobster was also cooked just right.
We also ordered for the table Peas, and Asparagus, and Grilled Vegetables and Keith also had a Baked Potato. When you dine with the Steiner's, you know there will be lots of vegetables.
For Dessert Anne Marie and Keith both had the Freshly Frozen, Nonfat Cappuccino
Yogurt and Keith had mixed berries.
Throughout the meal we enjoyed not only great conversation with
Cruise Director Rick but also a lot of wonderful laughs. We also enjoyed lots of laughs with a
wonderful wait-staff team. It was just a great time.
It was great to be back in the Crystal Dining Room and to
once again enjoy a wonderful meal with the superb service, outstanding cuisine
and wonderful ambience that we consistently experience in the dining room.
About 45 minutes after we finished dinner, there was a local show that was performed in the Crystal Cove which included singers. As we left the dining room they were setting up for the show. We saw one man making drum beats onto a very large container and then he and one other man opened the cover and that is when we realized that the container was filled with Sake. The Sake would be poured into these wooden boxes which you could drink and then keep.
When we had arrived back to the room our Stewardess had a surprise on the bed for us, including a card from our Stewardess, Assistant Stewardess and Butler.
We slept very well last evening. When we went to sleep, we were still docked in Osaka and the ship was scheduled to leave port at 2:00 AM en route to our next port of call in Nagasaki, Japan.
So, this morning went a little different. Anne Marie actually opened her eyes before Keith but noticed Keith was still in bed so she didn't move fearing she would wake him up. When he awoke, she said good morning and he noticed he woke up around the time he normally comes back to the room with coffee. So, the good news is he slept very well. He did take a quick (ok well slow so he doesn't get in trouble) run upstairs to the Lido Cafe and brought back a cup of coffee for each of us to the room.
A little while later the two of us went on a one hour walk around the ship. For part of the walk, we also walked with friend, Elaine.
It is Valentine's Day so it was fun to walk together and the time went by quickly as it always does when we walk together as we continually talk back and forth.
The Crystal Plaza was already decorated in the spirit of Valentine's Day.
We also stopped went to another deck to visit the stewardess we had on the 2010 World Cruise, Sneha, to give her a Valentine's Gift we had for her.
We also had Valentine Gifts for Butler, Rao, Stewardess Lunghar, and Trainee Attendent Eliana.
Shortly, after returning to our room we enjoyed breakfast as we watched the Daily Morning Show with Cruise Director Rick Spath and World Cruise Hostess Stacey Huston.
We then went down to the Crystal Cove where we first sat and read and wrote. Many people stopped by to speak with us including Captain Birger, Vice Captain Nenad, Hotel Director Josef, and several friends including Bob and Glo, BJ, Pauline and Vincent.
We also took some photos in the spirit of the day.
Anne Marie with Events Coordinator John Holly whose responsibilities include all of the decorations. The detail of this decoration is amazing. It was all handout by some of the many talented and hard working people on board the Serenity.
Dear Friends Bob and Glo
Head Waiters Igor and Bojan outside the entrance of the Crystal Dining Room getting into the act.
In the sprit of Valentine's Day there was a Valentine's Day Mixer at the Crystal Cove which began at 11:15 AM and ran till Noontime. It included music, dancing and singing.
A couple of photos of Dancers Curtis and Beverly who dazzled all of us.
The Valentine's Day Celebration Continued into the afternoon with a special Valentine's Day Chocolate Tea.
Afterwards, there was Team Trivia. We only got 9 and 1/2 points out of 15. One of the questions we got wrong was scrabble which was how many squares have triple word values? Keith should have known this as he plays scrabble on line with friend Sandra. We also talked ourselves out of the right answer which was what company has a product with a secret ingredient know as seven. We first said Coca Cola and then because we over analyzed it and said that the entire product uses a secret formula we went with KFC and sure enough Coca Cola. Oh well. We are still 2 1/2 points out of first place.
We enjoyed our typical lunch which was a nice salad entree.
In the afternoon, we both walked for another hour inside the ship. We ran into a lot of people as we walked. Anne Marie went to Yoga and Keith read and wrote.
This evening we are meeting friends who are in one of the four of the largest suites on the ship for a pre-dinner get together, then we all go to Prego and then we plan to attend a special Valentine's Evening Show for everyone on board (two shows) which was crafted on board the ship just for tonight.
For us on the ship sailing off Japan, it is already Valentine's Day so in the spirit of Valentine's Day……..
