DAY 47 - DAY THIRTY NINE ON THE CRYSTAL SERENITY

We just wanted to begin with another update.  Keith continues to feel stronger and is following the instructions he has received.  We are taking things slow, and mainly just walking inside the ship, other than a walk we did this morning.  We can't say enough how much support that we received from the moment Keith's medical incident occurred and it really made what was already a challenging situation so much more manageable than it would have been if we had to have dealt with this all on our own.  In a few days, all will be back to normal, and we are also very thankful for that.  In the meantime, just bare with us as our time in port over the new few days will not be as exciting as it would have been if we were able to have gone through with the tours we had planned.  The good news is we have many more ports to visit, and many interesting tours and other activities planned so there is a lot to look forward to and to share with all of you.

Last evening we dined with dear friends Bob and Glo at Silk Road.  This was the first time we had dined together at Silk Road since we boarded the ship in January.

We always have a wonderful time being with Bob and Glo and last night was no exception.

Our waiter for the evening was Albert who took excellent care of us.  He had ordered the first several items for us.

Vegatables

Lobster Tempura

Lettuce Wrap With Black Cod With Miso Sauce

A Trio Of Nobu Special Sashimi Which Is Always A Favorite

We all shared some Sushi and Sashimi.

The Men had the Hot Soba Noodles with a broth and had scallops added to it.  We didn't get a photo of it but the women each had the Nobu Box which is a sampler of Beef, Cod and Rock Shrimp.

All of the food is so nicely presented and always very tasty and the quality of the cuisine was just superb.  We enjoyed a wonderful conversation with Bob and Glo and we could have spoken for hours on end.  It is always a fun time anytime we get together.

The entertainment for the evening was performed by Michel Bell who entertains often on both Crystal Ships. We always enjoy is singing.  We ended up passing on his show just so Keith could continue to get some rest but will look forward to his next appearance.

As we slept last evening the Crystal Serenity continued to sail to our next port of call in Osaka.

Keith woke first but as he did yesterday morning he skipped the Fitness Center.  Instead, he went to the Lido Cafe for Coffee and where he also read and wrote.  He spoke with some of the Lido Deck Stewards, including Ross.  Also, he spoke with friend Linda. As he was finishing up we were beginning to make our arrival into the port of Osaka.

He brought back some coffee for Anne Marie and then after she got ready we both went on a one hour walk inside the ship.  It was cold outside so it was much easier to walk inside rather than outside.  We ran into several guests and members of the crew.  Many people were up early for early morning tours.

Shortly after returning from our walk , we enjoyed breakfast in our room.

As we mentioned the other day we had originally booked a private tour of Kyoto.  Our tour guide would have met us at the ship and we would have taken the train over to Kyoto and walked extensively to see several different sites, have lunch, and then see additional sites by foot until we returned to the port by train.  We thought that given the cold weather, all of the walking, being dependent on the train, and being far from the ship, that this was not a good idea given Keith's recent medical episode.  Instead, we canceled this tour and the one we had planned for Nagasaki.  This will be another excuse to return to these areas so that we can visit places such as Kyoto.

We did walk off the ship but we had limited our walk to no more than one hour.  It was very cold and eventually became windy.  Unfortunately, all of the nearby attractions including the ferris wheel, aquarium and even the mall were closed today.  We understand that the shops were closed due to a holiday.  We just walked around the nearby area.

It was very cold and we were well prepared.

After we got back to the ship, and changed out of our warm clothing we sat at the Crystal Cove and Keith read and Anne Marie worked on her knitting and we spoke with some fellow guests and crew.

We had lunch at the Lido Cafe and each enjoyed a salad entree.

In the afternoon we just enjoyed the ship and Keith continued to get additional rest.  Keith also met up with friend Bob and Anne Marie got ready some gifts and cards that we have for some crew members for Valentine's Day.

This evening we will be dining at the Crystal Dining Room which will be our first time back there since Keith had his Medical issue. We have a special guest dining with us and we will post more about that tomorrow.

We wanted to close by posting some photos that were taken of us by the Ship's Photographers during the first segment of the World Cruise.  We signed up for a special package which provides us with hard copies photos of each photo plus a thumb drive and the rights to all of the photos.

Dinner with Cruise Director Rick Spath a couple of days before Segment I of the World Cruise came to a close.

TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY……

"We are very thankful to everyone for their thoughts, well wishes, and the support we have received over the past few days.  It has touched our hearts."  - Keith & Anne Marie

  1. I heard on the grapevine that Cruise Critic actually shutdown their entire site today so that Keith could rest up and not be distracted :-)
Seriously though they have a big outage and I'm sure Keith is missing it as much as many of us are. Regards Bodogbodog

  2. Please continue on the road to good health. Taking care of oneself is the most important thing you can do for Anne Marie and you.
