We just updated our earlier post and wanted to note when we arrived back to the room last evening there was a letter on our bed from World Cruise Hostess Stacey Huston, along with the 2014 World Photo Album which includes photos and names of those taking the full World Cruise who had their photos taken on board the ship, along with photos of Senior Officers and some Senior Staff. It is very helpful to learn the names of those we travel with who we have not met before and it is a great keepsake from this adventure.
Due to the rough seas, the Captain's Farewell Reception and the Production Show were both canceled and rather than having a Black Tie Optional evening, the attire for last evening was resort casual. These were all very wise decisions for the safety and well being of everyone.
We began the evening by getting together with friends John and Linda.
We then watched the Crystal World Cruise Choir Perform. The Choir is composed of both guests and enrichment personnel. During the course of this voyage they practiced eight different times for 45 minutes each time and performed three songs and did a marvelous job. They were accompanied by Assistant Cruise Director Scott Mitchel, on the Piano.
We dined at Prego which is the Italian Specialty Restaurant. As many guests were dining at the Crystal Dining Room or even in their rooms it was not very busy.
We were joined for dinner by Cruise Director Rick Spath and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner and conversation. Costa who is normally our waiter was off since it was not too busy in the restaurant and we had Catalina as our waiter who did a nice
job taking care of us.
job taking care of us.
We both began with a small portion of the Ravioli which was one of the two additional entrees. We both thought it was very tasty. It pretty much melted in your mouth.
Our next course was salad with Anne Marie having Caesar Salad and Keith having a standing order Salad.
All three of us had the additional seafood entree which was Swordfish and it was delicious. Keith also had a side order of grilled vegetables. In the photo those are actually potatoes rather than mushrooms although they were cut to look like mushrooms. It made for a very nice presentation.
For dessert Keith had a fruit plate and Anne Marie had a small portion of ice cream.
Later in the evening, the Crystal Orchestra played in the Cove for both the main and late seating.
We want to take a moment to thank each and every member of the crew. The seas were quite rough last evening and just getting around was very challenging yet each member of the crew had an important job to perform and they did it as they alway do in a professional manner with a very positive/can do attitude and we truly admire them for being simply the best.
When we left the restaurant just walking was no easy task even for us. We were very careful walking up three flights of steps to our room. It felt like you were in an airplane with a lot (and we mean a lot) of turbulence. We were very careful as we had been through the day.
Again, we can't thank the crew enough for their professionalism.
Throughout the night it was extremely windy. The ship had less movement than earlier in the evening but the winds could easily be heard throughout the night. They were howling. In fact, when we first got back to our room, we thought the sliding door to the verandah might be slightly ajar and as it turned out we were not the only ones who thought the same. We checked the door a few times.
Unlike most nights Keith didn't sleep very well because of the winds. Anne Marie slept better as she uses ear plugs.
Keith woke first but didn't go up to the Fitness Center right away. He read and wrote as it was still somewhat rough. After awhile it calmed down and Keith went up to the Fitness Center for a partial workout.
From the Fitness Center, Keith went stopped by the Lido Cafe for some coffee. He spoke to each member of the Lido Cafe Team including; Ross, Max, Jun, Benamin and Liebert. Friend Linda was already there when Keith arrived so they chatted and then friend John arrived a little while before Keith finished up. John took the morning off from his workout which was good for him.
As he always does, after he was finished he brought coffee back to the room for Anne Marie and then we enjoyed coffee in our room.
Today, we are scheduled to arrive at Yokohama, Japan at 1:00 PM. We will stay docked there from Sunday afternoon local time till late Tuesday evening local time. We expect that we will not have internet service during that time frame so we are going to sign off shortly not knowing precisely when we will lose our service. As such we will just post what we have planned until we arrive.
This morning there were many activities on the schedule as if this was a sea day. This included a couple of lectures and even a special trivia game called "Battle of the Sexes" Team Trivia Special Session.
Anne Marie will shortly go on our one hour morning walk and will do the same in the afternoon. They rescheduled the Spin Class from yesterday to today so Keith plans to take that class. We will go to one of the two lectures offered this morning.
We are not sure whether or not we will arrived at 1:00 PM. We have nothing planned for today. Keith is improving but still under the weather and the forecast is for very cold weather so we doubt we will go off the ship today. Our original plan was to take the train over to Tokyo tomorrow but we will make that decision tomorrow. We have a private excursion planned in a few days over to Kyoto when we dock in Osaka.
If we don't go into Tokyo we will likely go into Yokohama which is the second largest city in Japan.
Please continue to check back to our Blog and we look forward to being back on line very soon.
TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY…...

Glad you hear you are feeling better!
ReplyDeleteDo either of you struggle with motion sickness when the seas are really rough? My husband who is normally just fine got ill in January when the Atlantic was really rough. I am hoping that you don't, but if you do, what do you do help? I personally get very motion sick without a daily medication, so I did not experience the sickness like he did.
Thinking of you both.
