DAY 67- DAY FIFTY NINE ON THE CRYSTAL SERENITY

More photos from Vietnam.

This is from our tour of the Reunification Palace which had been  used by the President's of South Vietnam.

We took a drive to see the grounds of the palace.  They were much larger than we imagined. When we visited here in the past, we never got to take this drive of the grounds.  There was a pre-recorded narrative in very easy to understand english explaining all that we were seeing.

Office used by the President's.

Inside the post office.  The post office included areas for a variety of companies that ship mail.  Tourist items are also sold there.

I took this photo of this group.

Last night was Elegant Casual on the ship.  Before dinner we sat at the Crystal Cove where we listened to Pianist John Mentis perform.

We dined at the Crystal Dining Room.

We began our meal with Salads.  Anne Marie had the Medley of Selected Field Greens and Keith had his standing order salad.

For our entrees, Anne Marie had Lobster Tail which was on the menu the night before as part of a Surf n' Turf entree.  Head Waiter Augusto ordered that for her.    Keith had Alaska Cod which was on the menu.  Augusto ordered an extra piece of it for Keith.  We both loved the entrees.

We both had fruit for dessert.

We slept well last evening.  The seas were relatively smooth as we sailed to Cambodia.  On a related note, as we sailed from the port for the first few hours we were sailing in the river which also required several turns getting out as we did when we were making our way the other day into Ho Chi Minh City.  During that time, stabilizers are not used.  The sense you get if you are walking say in the Crystal Plaza from the port side of the ship to the starboard side of the ship is that you are walking on an incline.  It was easy to do and there was no roughness to it but it just shows one of the benefits of the stabilizers.

After dinner, we walked around the ship for a little while.  There were two shows but we admittedly passed on them.

Keith was up early and he read and wrote until he went to the Lido Cafe for his morning coffee.

Keith brought coffee back for Anne Marie and afterwards he walked with her on the Promenade Deck.  We did part of the walk with good friend Elaine.

When we returned from our walk, we enjoyed  breakfast in our room and watched the Daily Morning Show with Cruise Director Rick and World Cruise Hostess Stacey.  They showed great highlights including ones from the Carnival the other night.  Dear friends Bob and Glo were included in the video and photos including Bob getting dunked.

Afterwards, Keith went up to the Fitness Center for another terrific Spin (indoor cycling) Class.  This one was one of the most grueling ones he has taken.

At the same time, Anne Marie went to the salon to have her hair cut.

Keith sat at the Crystal Plaza and continued reading one of his Kindle books on the iPad and also spoke with some of the officers including Hotel Director Josef and Cruise Director Rick.

There were two lectures on this morning's schedule including one on Koh Samui.  This port was not on the original itinerary and one that we have never been to before and don't think many people have been to either.  We look forward to visiting there in a few days.  It is very remote and no issues to be concerned with unlike the case of Bangkok.  As best we understand, the Crystal Symphony visited there a few years ago and this will be the first visit for the Serenity.  It is a major resort destination over the winter for many from Europe.

At 11:30 AM there was a special Mardi Gras Mixer held in the Crystal Plaza.  It was a terrific event.  The mixer also marks the 50% point of the World Cruise.

We had a terrific time at this event.  Like the mid-day get together to hear the Beatles Group perform, we danced to several of the songs.

They also past out Mardi Gras Beads.

Before we began dancing, the entertainment team put on a nice performance for us.  They began with a funeral march with dancer Curtis in the coffin.

Line Captain Shayne.

At the end of the show, many of the entertainers came up to the front along with Cruise Director Rick Spath.

Since we had a sea day we had Team Trivia in the very early afternoon and we only have one more game before the end of this segment of the World  Cruise.  Our team did very well today answering thirteen of fifteen questions correctly.

Keith played Paddle Tennis in the afternoon and Anne Marie walked for one hour.  The weather outside was hot but we enjoyed beautiful views of the sea.  It was a beautiful shade of blue.

Anne Marie also attended Yoga while Keith met up with dear friend Bob.

All in all it was a terrific day.

This evening we will be dining at Prego with another couple.  We will post all about this tomorrow.  There is also
