Please note that we are posting this much early than normal since we will be leaving the ship at approximately 9:30 AM local time today and will be away two nights and three days. We will not be able to Blog while we are on Safari.
Before dinner last evening we attended the final awards ceremony for the World Games along with the close of the World Cruise Games. Awards were given out from the last few days of events. Keith received two medals for Paddle Tennis. The first one was a Bronze for Mixed Doubles Paddle Tennis when he teamed with fellow guest Mary and the second one was also a Bronze for Men's Doubles Paddle Tennis where he teamed with fellow guest Jeremy. In total, Keith participated in five events, plus Team Trivia. In earlier years, Keith participated in several other events including golf, table tennis (ping pong), and shuffleboard, but this year just stayed with the Paddle Tennis and Basketball. Since he started to take up Paddle Tennis four years ago he is spending more time with that.
For most people the events are about having fun and also getting to know others. Like most things in life, some people do take them a bit too seriously but the majority of people approach them the way we do. In the end it is all about having fun for us.
The ceremony ended with a bang as the Crystal Ensemble of Singers and Dancers performed for us.
Shortly after the closing ceremony, we had dinner at Silk Road with dear friends Bob and Glo. We always have a wonderful time with Bob and Glo and last night was no exception. We had a terrific time. Waiter Anthony took good care of the four of us bringing us several favorites. We won't go through all of the items but will share a photo of the sushi and sashimi.
Keith and Glo kept their medals on just for the photo and then took them off. Glo won a medal for finishing with a Silver in mixed doubles shuffleboard. Congratulations, Glo.
When we arrived back to our room there was a letter noting that we need to go through immigration tomorrow morning at 7:00 AM. After we go through the immigration we can return to the ship until it is time for our tour to meet and then be escorted down to the bus at approximately 9:15 AM.
When we return from Safari we plan to post some photos from our adventure for several days.
Although in the past we have done day trips to see Animals in South Africa and in Kenya, this time we are doing our first ever overland Safari.
TODAY'S THOUGHT FOR THE DAY……….
