Yesterday afternoon we attended the Crew Tug-a-War
& Slippery Pole Event. The Tug-a-War pits a number of departments against
one another including the stewardess, engine room and the wait staff. The Dining Room Wait Staff won the Tug-a-War. Some of the departments wore costumes but other such as the dining room staff wore regular athletic type clothes.
Some of the Stewardesses. They had the best costumes.
Crystal Ensemble of Singers and Dancers.
The victors. The waiters are quite strong. You have to be to carry all of the food that the guests order.

Afterwards, individuals from different groups
competed in the slippery pole event which is held over the pool so whoever goes
down first goes into the pool.
Around the time that this event ended, Keith competed in the Family Paddle Tennis tournament which matches up a guest and member of the crew who play against other teams also comprised of one member of the crew and one guest. Last year, he and Shayne who is the line captain for the Ensemble of singers and dancers won the gold.
This time around Keith was matched up with Shore Excursion Manager, Daniel, and they won the first round against Hotel Director Josef and another guest but they lost the next round to the Casino Manager and a fellow guest. It was a lot of fun and it was nice to play with the crew. It was also nice to see see some of the crew who play at night but do not have daytime privileges get to play. There are some terrific players from the crew.
Before play began, Keith practiced and played on game with Crystal Dining Room Maitre d' against Hotel Director Josef and another crew member.
All of the people you see in the back are guests and crew who were watching the slippery pole event.
Keith teased with Leo about his shoes and asked if they lit up at night.
One of the Lido Deck Stewards, Max, practicing before the game. A couple of years ago we brought each of the Lido Deck Stewards and some other members of the crew shirts from the University Of Texas and from time to time we will see one of them still wearing them.
Keith with Shore Excursion Manager, Daniel shortly before they would play their first match.

As soon as Keith got back from playing he showered and got changed and then we went down to the Crystal Cove and has some photos taken. We also spoke with friend, Ilene, who will be on the Safari that we are going on as well.
Last evening was Black Tie Optional, and we dined at Prego with two members of the crew; Nina who is Crew Officer and her fiancee Steve who is IT Manager on board the Crystal Serenity. We have known Nina since 2007 when she worked at the reception desk and seen her move into several positions with increased responsibilities since that time. We first met Steve last year when the four of us dined together at Silk Road. They are engaged to be married end of January, 2015. We talked about their wedding plans, travel, and a wide range of topics. We could have talked the entire evening.
Prego was not very busy since this was a formal night. We had Costa as our waiter who took great care for us. We both had two pieces of the Raviolo which was the additional entree as our appetizer. Next course was salads for us and Anne Marie went with the Caesar Salad and Keith had his standing order salad which now comes with Spinach. At first when Costa saw the salad he came out to check with us thinking it was the wrong salad, but it was the right one. For our entree, we both had the additional seafood salad which was Sea Bass. For dessert, Anne Marie had a very small bowl of vanilla ice cream and Keith had a fruit plate. It was a wonderful evening and before it ended the four of us went to the Crystal Society Reception. While the event honors guests who have sailed Crystal before and honors a couple of guests with a significant number of cruises completed, last night also honored Paula Jean who is the on board Cruise Consultant who has also completed 15 years as an employee of Crystal Cruises. Pauline, congratulations. When we arrived back to the room last evening, there was a nice letter from World Cruise Hostess Stacey to all World Cruises and there was also a gift on our bed of little servers for cheese. They are all hand crafted and the handles are made from shells.
We slept very well last evening. We have enjoyed relatively smooth seas and find it easy to sleep on the ship. Maybe we need to place our house on some type of simulator that makes it feel like we are at sea. No, we don't want a house boat. We also got the benefit of setting the clock back one hour before going to sleep. Ironically, shortly after Keith woke up we did feel more rocking of the ship with increased sea swells which had been forecasted. As they say, this is all part of the cruising experience.
Keith began the day early and read and wrote and enjoyed some coffee at the Lido Cafe. After Anne Marie enjoyed the coffee that Keith brought back for him and changed we took a one hour walk together. You guess it. This was followed by breakfast in our room as we enjoyed the Daily Morning Show with Rick and Stacey.
Keith began the morning by taking another Spin Class. It was one of the tougher classes. Keith's knees were a bit sore from all of the Paddle Tennis from yesterday.
After the class, Keith changed and went down to the Crystal Cove and a shore while later he met with Shore Excursion Manager, Daniel, and also Keith's Paddle Tennis Partner from yesterday. They met so that Keith could get Daniel's input about the shore excursions being offered on next year's World Cruise which is precisely what Keith did around this time last year when he asked for Daniel's input for the 2014 World Cruise excursions. Daniel has fantastic knowledge about the excursions given his position and length of time working Shore Excursions and we great value Daniel's input.
Anne Marie went to knitting while Keith was meeting with Daniel.
Three lectures were on today's schedule and one of the highlights should be the talk
given by Celebrity Olympian Dain Blanton about Getting to the Gold. Later in the morning, lecturer Celm Sunter
speaks about the five essential steps to thinking like a fox about the future
and in the afternoon Crocodile Mick talking about hunting Crocodiles. If that is not enough, late morning Photo Manager
Jeremy will give a talk about the safaris he has been on and photographed. There has been a wide range of lecturers throughout the World Cruise.
Today being a sea day meant another day for Team Trivia. The scores were low today and we got 8.5 points out of a total of 15.
We continued our pattern of having a nice Salad Entree for our lunch which works out great for us.
In the afternoon, Anne Marie walked for one hour and also attended Yoga. Keith played Paddle Tennis with four other people for about ninety minutes and also met with dear friend Bob later in the day.
This evening we will be dining in the Crystal Dining Room with our Travel Specialist Gerri, and afterwards we will be attending a cocktail reception at one of our friends rooms and then it will be off to Dancing With The Crystal Stars.
"With each passing day on World Cruise 2014, we are creating new memories which we will carry with us for the rest of our lifetime." - Keith & Anne Marie
