We enjoyed a nice evening on the ship last night. Keith went to Sabath Eve Services which were conducted by Rabbi Morris Hershman. We first met Rabbi Morrie and his lovely wife Gerri on the 2007 World Cruise and we have sailed with them many times since that time.
We dined with another couple and then afterwards we enjoyed watching a movie.
We slept well as we are now sailing to our final port of call on this segment of the World Cruise which is Singapore. We will enjoy three days there and this is a place that we have visited several times starting in 2008 and even spent a few days there at the end of a cruise.
The only bad news is we had to set the clock forward by one hour. We prefer setting the clock back. The good news is that we will be setting the clock back several times on the next segment of the World Cruise as we cross from Singapore over to Africa.
In spite of the time change, Keith was up first as he always is and after reading and writing he went to the Lido Cafe for some coffee. He spoke with several of the wonderful deck stewards including Ross, Joe and Benjamin. To us and many people we know the Lido Deck Stewards are clearly the heart of the ship. Most of them have been with Crystal Cruises for many years and some have worked on all three Crystal ships.
They work in different positions. Many rotate every couple of cruises and work places such as the Lido Cafe for Breakfast, Tastes for late risers breakfast, Tastes for Dinner, Various Lounges around the ship serving canapés and serving drinks, The Crystal Dining Room either as runners as they assist with drinks with a few helping to carry dishes from the Galley to the Dining Room and you can find some of the Lido Deck Stewards serving drinks and canapés at the Captains Welcome and Farewell Receptions, at the Captain's Quarters for cocktails, at the Crystal Society Receptions and even serving at The Vintage Room. They are so very friendly and learn our names quickly and our preferences and they are some of the kindest people we have ever had the pleasure of knowing. They have our admiration and respect for all they do and they won our hearts over a very long time ago.
Keith also spoke with dear friend Linda for quite awhile. Linda and John will be leaving the ship in Singapore in a couple of days for their trip back home. We will miss being with the two of them and have enjoyed all our times together including getting together for pre-dinner drinks (mostly Perrier for each of us) before dinner. We sit at tables adjacent of each other in the dining room. We first met John and Linda in 2007 and have had the pleasure of sailing with them many times.
Keith brought coffee back for Anne Marie and then we walked for one hour on the Promenade Deck. When we first got outside it was very windy and dark outside but by the time we finished it was sunny and while still windy not as windy as when we first got out there. We met up with friend Elaine and we walked with her for about half our walk.
Today featured approximately fifty activities (excluding food) from 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM. This is the daily program.
After we returned to the room we enjoyed breakfast thanks to Rao. As we ate our breakfast we watched the Daily Morning Show with Cruise Director Rick and with World Cruise Hostess Stacey. We were featured in the close of the highlight video. Each show they show video taken around the ship since the last show. We were on the video not only for our thumbs up as we were dancing at the mid-day mixer the other day but when Keith kissed Anne Marie on the dance floor and they froze that frame for several seconds. Rick said it was the first time he saw us kissing. Thank goodness they don't have the video set up in our room. LOL.
This was the last sea day of this segment of the cruise so there was lots on the schedule.
Keith began his activities with a Spin (indoor cycling) Class. At the end of the class he wished a couple of fellow guests who are leaving the ship in a couple of days his very best. It was a very challenging class but that was because the three of us in the class are in good shape so Fitness Director could adjust the class accordingly. This includes a woman who has been taking the class on each segment of the World Cruise and another woman on for this segment only. One guy showed up about 20 minutes after the class begun and as they say he was doing his own thing. Translation: He was not paying attention to the instructor.
Getting a few seconds rest between sets.
Fitness Director Michael showing off his muscles.
The reason the photo is a little blurry is that we were moving at 100%+ energy on this part of the track with our hands out wide and our legs moving as fast as we could move them.
After freshening up following the class, Keith met up with Anne Marie at the Crystal Plaza. Anne Marie spoke with some of the Senior Officers before Keith arrived including Captain Birger. Later, Keith spoke with the Vice Captain and the Chief Engineer each of whom will be leaving in Singapore for well deserved vacations. We both also spoke with some fellow guests.
We also picked up our passports as these will be required throughout our stay in Singapore as they must be presented to Passport Control on our way out and back from the cruise ship terminal. We love Singapore but they have very strict rules and laws that must be obeyed.
Later in the morning, Anne Marie attended the Knitting Get-Together as she continues to work on her knitting projects.
There were three lectures on the schedule; two in the morning about Singapore by lecturers Patrick Cherry and Sir Stephen Brown one in the afternoon by filmmaker and former Sports Illustrated, Time and Life Photographer Neil Leifer which covered portraits that he has taken over the years.
We also had our final Team Trivia game of this segment of the World Cruise. The questions were challenging and we had the second best score for the day but we ended up coming in second at only one-half point behind the leader. The reason we were on half point behind is that on each game there is one question that requires to answers with each correct answer earning half a point each.
We enjoyed another nice lunch at midday and had a salad entree.
In the afternoon, Keith played paddle tennis and also got together with dear friend Bob while Anne Marie walked for an hour and also attended yoga.
This evening is Black Tie Optional Attire on the ship and also includes the Captain's Reception and a Production Show Titled Rocket Man featuring the songs of Elton John. We will be dining at Silk Road. We will post all about that tomorrow.
