DAY 100 - DAY NINETY TWO ON THE CRYSTAL SERENITY

Last evening we attended an exclusive Vintage Room Dinner which was hosted by one of the wives on our Team Trivia Team Sandy and her husband Mike.  There were a total of twelve people in attendance   This includes eight from our trivia team, three spouses who do not play on the trivia team, and World Cruise Hostess Stacey who also runs team trivia.   It was a lot of fun and as usual Head Sommelier Bart Dufor and the waitstaff and the Galley under the direction of the Executive Chef made this a most memorable evening.  Other than the first course, the other courses were different than what we had the other evening.

The menu included Lobster Civiche which we had a few nights earlier; Homemade Gorgonzola Agnolotti; Crisp, Beef Short Ribe Cannelloni' Seared Lam Loin; Parmigiano Reggiano; Plantation of Chocolate and Homemade Vintage Room Chocolate Pralines.

We began with Louis Roederer Cristal, Brut, Reims 2005 Champagne.

Two white wines were served; Sauvignon Blanc, Delaire Graff, Coastal Cuvee, Stellenbosch, South Africa 2012 and Chardonnay, Leeuwin Estate, Art Series, Margaret River, Australia 2009.

Two red wines were served, Pinot Noir, Wedell Cellars, Sta. Rita Hills, Santa Barbara 2008 and Shafer Vineyards, Hillside Select, Stag's Leap District, Napa Valley 2009.

We ended with a dessert wine which was Moscato D'Asti, Cupcake Vineyards, Asti, Italy.

All in all it was a wonderful dinner.  At this point in time with the exception of one person everyone from the trivial team plans to play trivia on our same team on next year's World Cruise.

The dinner began at 7:00 PM and we didn't finish until 10:20 PM.

We slept very well as we continued to sail to our next port of call in Ghana.

Keith was up first and by now you all know the routine very well.  Keith read, wrote, worked out at the Fitness Center, had coffee at the Lido Cafe.  After bringing back coffee for Anne Marie we both walked for an hour before we had breakfast in our room.

We wanted to note that although there are only ten full days, (yes ten days) left before the World Cruise concludes that there are still so many activities on the schedule for us to enjoy. Many are for all guests on this sailing with a few of them for those taking the full World Cruise.  This evening is the second and final on board World Cruise Dinner.  On the schedule is a behind the scenes look of the crew area, an around the world party where guests are encouraged to wear some types of clothing they got in port, a return by popular demand of family (crew member and guest team) paddle tennis, golf putting, Serenity POPS concert, showing of the World Cruise Video and a balloon and confetti drop on the final evening of the World Cruise.  On top of this will be all of the enrichment and evening entertainment and also a special Ocean Views which is a panel discussion on a range of topics by four panelists and this will be moderated by Destination Lecturer Ken Rees.  Each guest will be handed an interactive hand held device so that their input is heard too.

We originally had a tour planned for Ghana and it was a volunteer tour but given that the medication that Anne Marie is on we decided it would be wise for her to not go and we thought that it would be nicer to turn in two tickets rather than one ticket since there was a wait-list for this tour and it would allow a couple to go should they be first on the wait list.

Instead, we just spent the day on the ship.  We do have private tours booked through Crystal Cruises coming up before the World Cruise ends.  Then on the succeeding two cruises we have several private tours planned.

With many people touring it was nice to spend the day on board the Serenity.  Keith went back to the Fitness Center while Anne Marie organized some items in our room.  Later in the day, Keith played Paddle Tennis and Anne Marie walked for an hour.  We also read and wrote.

This evening we are attending the second and final on-board World Cruise dinner and show.

TODAY'S THOUGHT OF THE DAY…...

"Although the World Cruise is starting to wind down, the friendships and the many memories that we have made during this  World Cruise will last with us for the rest of our lives." - Keith & Anne Marie
