DAY 106 - DAY NINETY EIGHT ON THE CRYSTAL SERENITY

We returned to the Crystal Dining Room for dinner last night after being away for one evening with friends Jim and Judy in Silk Road.  We had a great time there.  No photos of food today but we will take photos this evening and post them tomorrow.  We each had salads, seafood (Sea Bass) and our usual assortment of vegetables and we each had low fat yogurt and Keith had mixed berries.

A photo with our Head Waiter, Augusto.

We slept very well last evening as we always do.  Keith was up first and worked out, read and wrote and had coffee at the Lido Cafe.  Since we had an early tour today we walked for about thirty minutes and then we had breakfast in our room.

Today, we visited Morocco for the very first time.  We were scheduled to visit Casablanca, Morocco in 2007, however, due to terrorist bombing activities that were targeting citizens of the United States that port was cancelled and replaced with a visit to Cadiz, Spain.  This time around the Serenity docked at the Port City of Agadir.

We arranged a couple of months ago to take a Crystal Cruises Private Tour.  Our dear friend Ileen also joined us on this tour.  We visited the walled village of Taroudant.  Unlike the more modern city of Agadir which is the port city where the ship was docked, Tarodant is a living monument to the Saadians, who established the city as their 17th century capital.  This city has many old buildings and well preserved city walls.

On our way we stopped at this tree.  This is the first time we have ever seen Goats on branches of the tree.  The goats eat the leaves on the trees.

The drive to the walled city took about 75 minutes.

Like Keith, Ileen loves photography.

Our tour guide Miscor or as he said we could call him Mis.  We didn't get a photographer of our Driver but his name was Hamid.

After viewing the walls we then walked the city.  It has a wide range of shops.  Many items were concentrated in certain parts of the city as you might find in other cities.  For example, you might pass 10 or 20 places selling shoes, then others selling poultry and so forth.  Unlike many Suks we have walked or other places selling goods the vendors were not aggressive.  No one tried to stop us or even pull us to look at their items.  The only item is like some cultures if you try to photograph someone they will ask you to pay them in return.  We didn't have anyone pose for photographs so that was not an issue.

You can always find Coca Cola in most places around the world.

This is something you do not see very often.

The bread smelled delicious.

Not sure the translation of the sign but thought it was interesting.

We enjoyed the tour and we learned a great deal from the tour guide about Morocco and both the port city and the city we visited.
It was also fun to be on the tour with Ileen.

When we arrived back to the ship we had lunch and as usual our salad entrees.

This evening we will dine in the Crystal Dining Room.

  1. What went first… the chickens or the eggs?!? Great photo! You have other great photos too, but that one stands out!
